Derby was most appropriately born May 7, 2005 on Kentucky Derby Day. Appropriate because he only knows 2 speeds... a flat out run or a walk. Talk about "Athletic"... man... this guy certainly is! He is always on the go. He can turn and stop on a dime and just LOVES to RUN. Derby has the beautiful Doc Bar head that is so sought after. He has long pasterns, a sloping shoulder and a nice big hip. And he is heavily muscled to boot. Derby has a VERY balanced confirmation. He would make an excellent cutting or reining prospect.

Derby is the first foal out of our new Paint Stallion. Though he is solid, he is one impressive colt and we were NOT one bit disappointed! He has inherited his sire and dams good solid big feet and straight, straight legs. Our farrier has trimmed him the first time and was impressed not only with his feet, but how well he did. He never moved a muscle and acted just like an old timer.

Derby was imprinted at birth and has been handled and brushed a lot. He has the kindest disposition you would ever want in a colt. Just like ALL of Missy's foals he learns INSTANTLY. It took all of 2 minutes to teach him to lead. If there is one thing Missy does she puts her willing attitude and great mind in her foals. Derby is just like ALL the foals we've had from Missy. Easy to train, calm and rock solid with a good mind. They love to please and learn!

Derbys Half Brother, Ke Tops Regal Surprise, is in Southern California and is winning APHA Halter classes over much older Mature Stallions as a 2 year old his first year out [2005]. In addition he is placing in "Color" classes over older Paints as well. He will be heavily shown in Paint Shows in 2006 and we expect he will continue to have many, many more wins.

His pedigree is just chock full of cow on the top and speed on the bottom. His dam, "Missy" has "Easy Jet" right on her papers. And if that is not enough his pedigree includes many other well known Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse speed horses on the bottom including: Top Moon, Lena's Bar, Three Bars, Raise a Native, Majestic Prince, Count Fleet, Merry Mayor and Bar Bob to name a few.

If it is cow that you are looking for... look no further. Check out this guys top side where you'll find tons of Cow both Paint and AQHA: Leo San Cita, Big Step, Primero El Randado, Doc's Zimfandel, Puro Fina, Dell Jiggs and Darks Mary to name a few. As an added bonus he has speed on the top side as well from Three Bars, Zippo Pat Bars, Leo Pat and more.

Derby should mature to around 15.1 to 15.2 hands and 1,000 to 1,100 lbs. He will excel in any cow event as well as Western Pleasure and Halter events. Check out his pedigree for all the Halter World Champion, National Champion, APHA and AQHA Champion Halter Horses. Coming or Going this guy can do it ALL for you and will LOVE every minute of it!
